Intro

A career spanning across multiple sectors, a wealth of experience has been established in the intersection between technology and societal issues and advancement. Partnering with organisations to speak and educate on the role of data and technology in society, a multi-disciplinary approach is taken to cultural discourse surrounding technology, its risks, its benefits and how to use it. Aside from these activities, there are various other projects she has spear-headed and contributed to.

In 2024, she took part in a Creative Director course to consolidate her experience and various practice forms, establishing her agency ‘On The Cuff’ as the centre point for future work and creative consultancy. The agency has a literary arm called ‘Off the Cuff’ using writing and poetry to explore life and create art which changes society’s perceptions and understanding of complex issues and raises the collective consciousness.

Previous work and projects

The 2021 Venice Biennale project, themed ‘Data and Architecture,’ delves into the significant role that algorithms and powerful control tools play in shaping our cities. Partnering with the British Council, Unscene Architecture curated the thought-provoking exhibition, ‘Ministry of Collective Data – Garden of Privatised Delights.’ This exhibition explores the potential of facial recognition technology to unlock collective data for public benefit.

I spearheaded the implementation of this project, collaborating with a dedicated team of curators, project leads, and creatives from inception to completion. The creative brief was deeply influenced by works and texts that have shaped my journey in the sector, with a focus on empowering society through consent and transparency.

In collaboration with a leading software company, we developed a digital, interactive consent notice that was seamlessly integrated into the exhibition setup at the British Pavilion in Venice. This innovative approach not only highlighted the importance of consent but also engaged visitors in a meaningful dialogue about data privacy and control.

The Art of Privacy: Exploring the Intersection between Electronic Communications and Privacy

"The Art of Privacy" is a video series from OneTrust DataGuidance that delves into privacy and data protection, showcasing how industry-leading voices transform their work into an art form.

In this episode, I examine the intersection between electronic communications and privacy, focusing on the rise of surveillance capitalism driven by commercial online tracking. I discuss specific art forms and highlight how privacy professionals design compliance programs that balance societal expectations with commercial incentives and innovation.

See My World Festival is a vibrant series of multicultural, intergenerational, and inclusive events, reflecting the aspirations of Manchester’s Pan-African community. These Pan-African themed events aim to inspire a movement promoting self-determination for the global diaspora.

The festival is dedicated to the education, promotion, and celebration of Pan-African arts and culture. It incorporates debates, seminars, panels, exhibitions, workshops, and performances to foster and develop both emerging and established cultural practices of the African and Caribbean diaspora.

Over the course of two consecutive years, I curated hosted four panels, each exploring diverse themes within the diasporic community. As Secretary General, copywriter, and creative consultant for the project, I oversaw the thematic direction of workshops and panels, curated guest speakers, and wrote the copy for each session. In my role as panel host, I designed the discussion topics and ensured the conversation flowed seamlessly, incorporating key points from each guest.

In partnership with the European Social Fund, we assisted a selection of young people in a mentoring program to develop a business plan of their choice. During this mentorship, I coached participants on the initial steps for setting up a business and refining their business plans. This included key concepts and principles for financial planning, and developing marketing and social media briefs that harness the USP of their brand or business.

I then provided coaching and mentorship to the runner-up candidate, helping them bring their idea for an event and brand activation into fruition.
